I have recently bought a 2010 Mondeo Mk4 Estate (2L diesel, powershift, titanium). Boot was not opening and after hours of searching the net, I could found the lock mechanism spare code and how to open & replace in such condition. I ordered a new lock mechanism and opened the boot by removing the latch. So easy to put this in the manual so why not do it. It is the switch on the drivers door that controls the child locks, as stated its the same switch that disable the rear elec window. It's located on the switches around the electric mirror controls, when you press it you will hear a clunk. Usually the warning sounds like parking sensors, door open, etc come through the Speakers but i've noticed they've just started coming from behind the dash, like an internal speaker. There are dedicated door lock repair kits like this for £30, but if all you want to replace are the internal parts you can buy an ignition barrel repair kit for £20 and use the parts from that. This pic shows the small rod that often causes the issue. Preferably wait approximately 10 minutes. Procedure. 1. Move the seat fully rearwards (using either the manual or electric method). 2. Been having a lot of issues with the alarm going off for the past week with the dash saying alarm serive required, Taken it to my local garage and we have changed the interior sensor for a new one and checked the siren alarm and all is fine. Check connections on FP lock see if there is any current getting to the actuator, If its not the FP lock its the main lock actuator FD on the drivers door that usually controls the activation of the other door locks. Its a common fault on pre 2004 mondeo's ,mine only worked in warm weather .
